Recognize your own triggers and develop coping skills so that you may develop insight into your inner state of being in a non-judgmental, safe, and loving space. In this DBT Group, the four skill modules: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness will be introduced. The skills modules are designed to specifically assist you to better manage behavioral, emotional, and cognitive instability. The intent is to learn how to maintain emotional balance while figuring out just how to navigate through stressful times.
For some, facing life’s challenges with heightened arousal levels can increase far more quickly than the average person’s, and may take a significant amount of time to return to baseline. This may result in difficulty expressing anger, episodic depression, irritability or anxiety, intense or chaotic relationships, impulsivity, stress, and feelings of emptiness. With the individualized attention of your therapist, the DBT skills learned will be modified and altered to what works for you, giving you a chance at being in the “driver’s seat” of your emotions.
